We are looking for Senior Backend Engineers

The Payments Team is focused on enhancing seamless payment experiences and subscription management while tackling the challenge of migrating from a legacy monolithic to an event-driven architecture. Through collaboration across engineering, product management, and stakeholders, we aim to optimize user journeys and drive Epidemic Sound’s growth.

As a team, we value open collaboration, tackling complex technical challenges together, and sharing knowledge through pair and mob programming as well as regular hack weeks. Your insights will shape and influence the team’s roadmap, so we're looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and embraces uncertainty.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain high-performance backend systems with a focus on payment and subscription services
• Design and implement REST APIs and microservices using Kotlin (Ktor) or Python (FastAPI), ensuring scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data teams to create cohesive, impactful solutions
• Champion best practices in CI/CD, DevOps, and testing, leveraging tools like Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for robust deployment pipelines
• Drive experimentation through A/B testing and growth-focused methodologies to iteratively improve user engagement and experience

Who You Are

• System Design Expertise: You have a solid understanding of system design principles and distributed architecture, enabling you to build scalable and reliable backend services
• Experienced Developer: You bring 5+ years of experience in backend development with expertise in Java with Kotlin or Python
• DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS
